1950s Clover Mt. Fuji scene makeup compact music box - brass and enamel - non working

This gorgeous makeup compact is made of brass with an enamel lid, depicting a forest scene (looks like Mt. Fuji). Inside there is a mirror, and a small square for powder, complete with the retaining mesh.

Though there is a Music Box movement inside this piece it is not working - from similar pieces I believe it should play Fur Elise (Beethoven).

Some wear to the back of the case. From what I can find online the maker is Clover. Dates from the 1950s.
